| | .: Utilities | | | | | |  | Logansport is a rarity among Indiana cities. In 2006 it generated and distributed 48 percent of the electricity used by business, industry and residents. It purchases the balance from Duke Energy. As a result, all customers enjoy more attractive rates. The municipal utility serves a 300-square-mile area with approximately 13,000 customers. Natural gas is provided by Northern Indiana Public Service Company, with seven billion cubic feet of underground storage located at nearby Royal Center. Verizon provides telephone service. The city has a daily water pumping capacity of six million gallons, twice the amount presently used. Its waste water treatment facility was modernized in 1980 and has a capacity of nine millions gallons. It currently handles about five million gallons per day.
